Batzulger Update/Discussion Thread 1: He is not an AI

#51
Stew is considerably lower tech than the other two protagonists.

Also the last part, AGENTS, has just started.

Since last we left our heroes, everyone has managed to get to the same island, some people are seen - either because they are pretty, look like someone else, or are just in a bad crowd - and lots and lots of assumptions are being made.

Also, Stew is probably going to have to pay a damage deposit for Rin's wall.

Alas.

watching the various characters dance around eachother sort of reminded me of a Marx Brothers movie...

Important safety tip!

If you do not outline or you write as a stream of consciousness...Do NOT attempt to do a series of Rashoman style sequences! It is actually possible, but oh so painful keeping everything straight in your head.

For an intelligence guy Stew is being pretty honest and open.

I blame Jack.

...so, a Slayer goes back in time and kills Hitler...

You've been working up to this, haven't you, Bats?

naw, she's not planning to kill Hitler (he's got too much security to make it feasible) but she is planning to off some of the Nazi high command that came up with their 'final solution' to jews/undesirables.

Working up to it? Why whatever do you mean?

Also Timote's right, killing Hitler at this point would do more harm than good bringing somebody competent in charge of the Reich. The wheels are already turning in mid-1937 with the Spanish Civil War/Weapons Testing well underway, the deals have been cut with Stalin, and Japan and Italy are on board. The war is coming and there is no way to stop it.

Ken is gunning for Heydrich and Himmler (Heydrich definitely. Himmler if she can get a shot at him.) to cripple the Reich's Intelligence services because Canaris and the Abwehr hated Hitler and were pretty incompetent as well. With the SS and the SD in chaos, the Allies have a serious advantage especially at the early stages of the war.

Now if she could snag any of Goebbels, Streicher, Boorman, Keitel, Frick, Eichman, or that level she would give it a shot. She'd probably leave Goering alone.

A target to avoid would be Hitler's quack physician, Theodor Morell, who was known for frequently dosing Hitler with Methamphetamines and other nastiness.

heh. i think it was the cold open that threw me the first time.. once i got a couple chapters in, it was smooth sailing. also, i thought it was buffy originally (because who else would it be?) and the character was very un-buffy-like. i have no particular feelings either way on kennedy, so she was much easier to accept in the role of nacht

It's weird. I thought I had made it clear that it didn't have to be Buffy... The whole purpose of that bait and switch was because of the original Shadow character actually. In the pulps every reader knew he was really Lamont Cranston, playboy about town. Walter Gibson, a stage magician by trade who wrote the Shadow stories under the name 'Maxwell Grant', planned the 'Cranston' ID as an misdirect. He only kept it up until the 3rd story (The Shadow Laughs - October 1, 1931) but still kept the real Kent Allard ID hidden for another year or so. I wanted to pay homage to that by having a character of unknown true identity.
