However, I can't seem to make the scripts work (probably permissions), and despite what I say on the top page I still can't get a custom 404 page to appear. I've asked my provider about these, and done some research, but so far no fixes yet. The commercial webhosting I'm now using runs on IIS, and I don't know thing one about that might affect stuff I would otherwise not give a second thought to under Apache. Anyone with the experience have any advice for me? (Yes, I've got the IIS manager ready to install, but it seems to need some kind of console that I can't find, either extant among Win 7's various systems, or online for download.)
