I've been sick for the better part of 2 weeks, now just about back to normal. But I had a LOT of downtime where I couldn't use my computer and was just in bed trying to recover and rest. So I took the time to reread some stuff. Such as DW-V.

Had forgotten how damned GOOD this is reading it all in what amounted to about 2-3 long sessions.

But the last 3 Chapters on my 3rd reading session, I had simultaneously decided to get re-acquainted with an old favorite rock back of mine - Rush.

There's something... synchronicitous... about the songs and lyrics of Rush's "Roll The Bones" album. Nothing tracks EXACTLY. But snippets of lyrics here and there just... popped in and melded with the story fantastically at several key points.

I recommend giving it a try. Try reading Drunkard's Walk V: Another Divine Mess You've Gotten Me Into with the following album playing long-form. I'm telling you - it WORKS in weird and wonderful ways.

I'm rereading this part in anticipation to the epilogue, and found something that might be an issue.
"The first person I spotted was Captain Turquoise (now in civvies, too), who looked distinctly uncomfortable in seiza on the far side of the table from the door (and, thus, me). He was flanked by two new folks, a pair of young women who appeared to be in their twenties and who occupied almost all of his attention. Hm. More mortal auxiliaries. They must have shown up while I was in the bath, I mused. I raised an eyebrow when I realized one was a cop of some variety, in full uniform. The other looked more like Buffy Coed." -chapter 1
I always took this that Rachel would fit in Sunnydale High, and not that she was particularly buff (as in muscled).
Now, the fact is that part XIII is actual Buffy, and the part above is written from Doug's point of view. It would somehow imply that he knows a least a bit of the buffy story.
Would that be an issue ?

If God had a name, what would it be
And would you call it to his face
If you were faced with him in all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints and all the prophets
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
He's trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the Pope maybe in Rome
And yeah yeah God is great yeah yeah God is good
yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
What if God was one of us
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home
Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
Except for the Pope maybe in Rome

Just to torment people. If you haven't, check out the byte count on chapter 7 up above.
I am writing the last scene before the epilogues right now. As things are finished, they go to Chris for second pass/approval. If all goes well, the entire draft chapter should be done by the end of the week. Which means it'll time for prereader fun.
Just to let you know...
