It's a simulacrum song, except the copy it calls up is Doug himself. Since the copy is Doug, it's also got his equipment, including a helmet playing the song, so it produces another copy. And another copy. And another copy, and another, until the latest Dough is quick enough to turn on his tuneplug at least. The more of them that form the weaker each copy is and they all draw off the same magic pool, so it's very easy to drain himself dry if he's not careful about numbers, but they all have an accurate mental copy, and physical strength and speed fall much slower than endurance, so there's still plenty of use cases where it's just what he needs to handle the situation.

Yes, the last Doug in the line can use a different song without disrupting the rest, as long as he's got it on headphones-only mode. The use of a metasong may also drop the result down to a single copy, depending on its modifier effect.]]>

Unlike most song effects this tapers off slowly and lasts longer the longer the song was played. If allowed to run for its full duration the effect becomes a curse that lasts a full twenty four hours, although without actively being continually refreshed with the song playing normal magic can dispel the curse like any other temporary effect from a caster of Doug's power (very high) and skill (not so much when it comes to curses, since most of his effects are more along the lines of enhancements or external attacks/environmental manipulation.) The head composer of the critically acclaimed MMO Final Fantasy XIV TM is the legendary Masayoshi Soken, an all around badass who frequently writes the Boss themes for the particularly important story moments or characters. A lot of them are (respectfully) more generic battle themes that probably wouldn’t interest Doug’s mage gift.

But there are also more than a few that I’m pretty sure would do the opposite, and here’s a list of several and the powers I think they’d grant.

Essentially, a Create A Movie/Music Video power.  Doug would play the song, and the nearest screen (or any other suitable medium) would project a film/movie of what he’d choose - with that caveat it would have to be something he’d actually experienced. 

Like, imagine going for a debrief, and a AMV of the badass fight he’d just been in plays. Or an epic LOTR style film *experience*.

Any thoughts about any kind of movies that would possibly have this, or at least similar effects?]]>

effect: must be used after the song to be extended, and Doug must dance to the music. As long as he continues to dance, the effect of the previous song will continue. This is usually unneccessary in combat situations, but for support and utility effects it can be quite handy as long as he has the space and endurance to keep on shakin' his booty.

Despite the title and only being a single music file, the song changes style to fit the one it's extending and duration to end perfectly when he decides (or is forced) to stop dancing.

If ab additional limitation is needed for game balance, perhaps it only adapts once per world, the first time he uses it there, or once per musical genre? The lyrics do mention that this is the only time it sounds like a cha-cha-cha after all.]]>

This precludes using it inside any kind of enclosed space, obviously, but at least he can always see where he is and what's outside.

The eye can project a beam of fiery-orange light that cuts through any form of fog, illusion, invisibility, etc. unless backed up by more magical power than Doug can bring to bear, which, just as a reminder, can be measured with several kilograms in the m of E=mc^2 at least, and also has just plain phenomenal optical resolution rivaling many astronomical observatories. The problem of air currents and refraction also magically removed if he's using the spotlight beam at the same time.

Subjects caught in the spotlight may also be subject to having their surface thoughts read, enough for a significant combat penalty (on top of any morale penalty that may apply) and being nearly impossible to lie or pull off any form of deception, again unless backed by more raw power than Doug can put into seeing through it or enough skill to make up the difference. A god with Lies or Trickery in their portfolio might pull it off, anyone else is probably SOL.

Not actually a simulacrum of the Eye of Sauron from his world-hopping, and may predate his getting sent on the Walk depending on authorial whim and story needs. Doug has read the books, possibly seen the films, and his power seized onto it as a thematic fitting the song.]]>
