This is what it has come to with covidiots.

Trump and Pence have both tested Negative since this discovery.
I was thinking about this after reading a news story about it some hours ago. I honestly would not put it past the Trump Administration to lie about whether the President is infected or not, and I'd actually put money on them hiding it if he died, Dave-style.

well, with the general skill level the Trump White House has shown, it'd be more like Weekend at Bernie's
I don't wish death on anybody. But I'll read a few positive test results with great relish.
There's been threats made against Tri-County Health (with vandalism) and at least one threat saying, "You’re about to start a … civil war. END. THE LOCKDOWN. NOW. Or face severe consequences."

I'd hate to think a minority in the state here would decide to violently attempt to overthrow the government because they can't go sit down in a plastic dining room and eat a cheap burger. But here we are, with them threatening to do exactly that.
I hope whoever sent that goes to trial, is convicted, and has to discover what real isolation - in jail - is like.

Because that really sounds like treason to me.
Conspiracy theories are starting to take a toll on doctors:
'What are we doing this for?': Doctors are fed up with conspiracies ravaging ERs
If they're willing to kill for their fast food and hair salon appointments, they should be willing to die for them too. Let them try it and find out what actual Army soldiers think of P.L.A.G.U.E. Trump's "warriors." Just, you know, "let it wash over us and run its course," like they say they want.

If Wikipedia is to be believed, as of today:
  • The death rate by COVID-19 per million people in the USA is close to double the death rate by COVID-19 per million people in Canada.
  • The total number of deaths by COVID-19 in the USA is greater than the total number of deaths by COVID-19 in China, Italy, and Spain combined.
  • More people have died from COVID-19 in the USA than in any two other countries.
  • More people have been confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 in the USA than in any seven other countries - including Spain and Italy.

So, if anybody in the USA tells you that they're doing a good job at containing this pandemic, tell then that the numbers say otherwise.
I'm afraid that the relevant metric will always be 'per capita' or as you noted 'per million people'. The USA's pretty big and has a rather sizable population after all, so even if the per capita numbers are the same as Spain or Italy the USA's total of deceased would still handily outnumber Spain and Italy, combined.

But that doesn't mean the USA is handling it well. Its case rate is rather sizable, and with the manner in which certain sections of the population are handling the measures in place that case rate will grow and keep growing. And thus so will its casualties.
The beloved leader has fulfilled his promise to make the USA a world leader again! USA! USA! We're number one! We're number one! /trumpista

...

Well, then, let's compare with a country that has a larger population than the USA.

All statistics from Wikipedia, as of this posting. All percentages done by simple arithmetic, rounded to no decimal places.

China:
Total population (2019 estimate): 1,427,647,786
Number of reported cases: 82,918
Number of reported deaths: 4,633
Reported deaths per million people: 59
Virus arrival date: 1 December 2019 (5 months, 1 week and 3 days ago)

USA:
Total population (2019 estimate): 328,239,523 (23% of China)
Number of reported cases: 1,379,185 (1664% of China)
Number of reported deaths: 81,289 (1755% of China)
Reported deaths per million people: 4099 (6947% of China)
Virus arrival date: January 13, 2020 (3 months and 4 weeks ago) (74% as long as China)

So... The USA has a reported death toll 17.55 times that of China's and a reported death toll per capita 69.47 times that of China's - and got there in three-quarters the time China took.
The US currently has more than 25% of the world's Covid19 cases _and_ deaths and the 5 is only going up

Hell, the US has more cases than the next SIX countries combined! (Spain, Britain, Russia, Italy, France, and Germany)

Hell adding the next on the list (Brazil) and they only outnumber the US by a little under 71k cases.
Because the economy is more important than lives. Some of the idiots down here have made that very clear.

Quote: Like the first round of payments approved by Congress in March, new proposal calls for giving $1,200 to those earning up to $75,000 a year and $2,400 to couples without dependents making double that before phasing out. But it would be far more generous to many families with children, providing $1,200 per dependent up to a maximum of three dependents. The earlier stimulus package, which is still in the process of being distributed, gave $500 for each qualifying child under age 17.

Americans may not see these new, more generous payments, however. Senate Republican leaders have already said the new bill is dead on arrival, arguing that another round of emergency funding is not yet needed as states begin to reopen.

Yes, that's right: self-isolation is even more American than apple pie.

If he really was a wartime president, he wouldn't be complaining about the economic devastation that comes with every war - and he'd be eager to sign into law the current Marshall Plan equivalent currently in Congress.

He wants the privileges gained by having the title, but doesn't want the responsibility that goes with the title.

That's an excellent summary of Trump's entire life.
