  Looking for Help
Posted by: Aleh - 12-03-2007, 09:37 AM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - Replies (7)

Is anyone here familiar enough with British English to help me check over a few short omake (both, combined, are presently less than ten KB) to make sure I got the British characters' dialogue correct?
Or, to put it another way, I need a brit-picker for a pair of very short omake. Any volunteers?-- This message brought to you by Ely Lilly, makers of SeraFem: Happy Pills for PMS.

Concerning Skye's character:-
...
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: He's a very nice Rikti.
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Officer K'Mira, formerly Chevalier K'Mira, Rikti traitor, Longbow Officer.
...
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Woohoo!
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: K'Mira has his cape!
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: yay cape!
[The Legendary] Atlantea: Grats!
[The Legendary] Atlantea: That must have been kind of weird though. I mean, you're going up against the Lost or (at higher levels if you put it off long enough) Rikti. A little irony there?
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Much irony
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: But K'Mira considers them his responsibility, at least in part
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: It was his people who created them
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: He's a very moral, upstanding, and honorable Rikti.
[The Legendary] Stormgear: Gratds!
[The Legendary] Stormgear: Traditionalist, I assume?))
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: You've met K'Mira
[The Legendary] Stormgear: I have.
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: He serves Longbow
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Only
[The Legendary] Stormgear: ...But like...
[The Legendary] Stormgear: Why?
[The Legendary] Acyl: Chicks dig the uniform
[The Legendary] Stormgear: XD
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: always a good reason
[The Legendary] Acyl: Status: Da Ladiesman
[The Legendary] Acyl: Location: In Da House
[The Legendary] Atlantea: ROTFLMAO
[The Legendary] Atlantea: That. Is. WRONG! XD
[The Legendary] Paradoxe: pahahahahahahaha
[The Legendary] Acyl: This: Cannot Touch
[The Legendary] Acyl: Na: Na: Na: Na
[The Legendary] Atlantea: Status: Cannot breath
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: well, I gotta stop now, it's hammertime.. *rimshot*
[The Legendary] Paradoxe: Baby: Ice, Ice.
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: Stop: Collaborate & Listen
[The Legendary] Atlantea: (Please tell me someone is SAVING this convo! [Image: happy.gif] )
[The Legendary] Foxboy: Salutations mes amis!
[The Legendary] Paradoxe: Quit: Denied. Rational: Too Legit.
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: hiya fox!
[The Legendary] Kaeda: Foxy.
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: On my knees: every night, you know I'm pray
[The Legendary] Foxboy: Are we doing Rikti Pop Music now?
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: Affirmative: Yes, Meatbag
[The Legendary] Atlantea: It's worse than that. [Image: happy.gif]
[The Legendary] Foxboy: So who's the new guy that EML is bringing in?
[The Legendary] Acyl: Location: Shady, Slim, verification
[The Legendary] Acyl: Shady Slim: Request vertical orientation
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Stop before I hit my head.
[The Legendary] Foxboy: Oh ghod RAP
[The Legendary] Acyl: Well, see, Stormgear asked why Skye's Rikti character would join Longbow.
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: Reason For Action: Because I am a Criminal
[The Legendary] Acyl: And my reply was 'Chicks dig the uniform'
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: Because he discovered the truth behind the Lineage's actions, and the truth behind the war.
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: And when he discovered they didn't actually -care-
[The Legendary] Acyl: The Man: Keeping me down
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: the rikti are really here for our music
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: And that they were just killing out of hatred, and humans didn't deserve to be treated that way
[The Legendary] Foxboy: Hehe
[The Legendary] Wiregeek: Mars Needs Rhythm!
[The Legendary] Skye Valentine: He turned traitor, because he's a very honorable soldier.
[The Legendary] Stormgear: ...Zentraedi?

It's long past the time, I think, when this could've been made a plot point, but I still feel like throwing it out for discussion just to make trouble.
Marller/Mara's seiyuu, at least according to Wikipedia, is Urara Takano. She also, by the way, voices Maria in Sakura Wars, something to bear in mind for the future. What caught my attention, however, was that she had a role in the Bubblegum Crisis OVA: "Kate."
As Bob pointed out with regard to why Doug hasn't noticed a resemblance between Lisa and Skuld's voices, it's been something like ten years for him. And he heard Madigan's voice far less than Lisa's. I thought it was funny anyway. -----

"Yes." The old man began to breathe normally. "Somehow Darth Vader with breasts is just less disturbing."
There are a few (at the moment just one but I'm sure it will grow) omake to the Shinji and WH40k story:

E: "Did they... did they just endorse the combination of the JSDF and US Army by showing them as two lesbian lolicons moving in together and holding hands and talking about how 'intimate' they were?"
B: "Have you forgotten so soon? They're phasing out Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

  Shenrei has updated (sort of)
Posted by: Shepherd - 12-01-2007, 09:20 PM - Forum: Other People's Fanfiction - No Replies

Shenrei has updated the author's note on his fanfiction.net page.

Quote:
11.30.2007 -- I've been recovering from a brutal car accident that crushed my left side and killed my best friend. I've still got a ways to go but I figure I've got one good hand and plenty of time, why not get back to work?
I have made many changes to my initial ideas regarding Legion of the Leaf and will be starting a rewrite which will invalidate it. Instead of one fic, I have plotted out a series of four (possibly five) fics with an enormous amount of plot and depth... so much I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the scope of it.
The new series will be called the Whitefox Tetralogy (or Pentalogy), and begins with Kemurigakure, a fic following Naruto in his pre-Genin days. It will be a long fic which will explore Naruto's character and how his lifelong dream to become Hokage formed. Don't expect canon, as this fic will split from that early on when Naruto finds a group to belong to under the guise of some new and old faces.
The second fic will be called Buntai and is essentially Legion of the Leaf's replacement. You may notice several similarities between them, but you can consider Legion of the Leaf abandoned at this point. Sorry to those of you who are Kurenai fans but she won't be taking him in this time around, it's one of the many changes I've made to the story.
That said, my other two, possibly three, fics are going to stay in "To Be Announced" status. I really don't want my titles or ideas stolen since they are quite a long ways off.
Well, take care. If anyone reads this please don't be afraid to email me. Try to use the FFnet Messenger system or I might think you're trying to sell me a larger penis and delete you.
Lord knows I get enough grief about it already...
Peace,
-Shenrei

  Aim for the Top
Posted by: Murmur the Fallen - 12-01-2007, 09:13 AM - Forum: Future Steps - Replies (3)

I wonder what would happen with Doug jumping into the Gunbuster/Diebuster world.
I would like to see what he'd do on the scale of battle that just keeps on escalating and his reaction to using the Earth as a weapon during the last episode of Top 2.
Certainly the Top 2 time period would the furthest into the future that Doug has gone.
Also: character interactions. I'm wracking my brain but not sure how Doug interacts with loveable bubble-headed naifs like Nono. Once learning she's a gynoid, would his techie wonkiness come to fore?
-murmur
Well, I suppose he could go to that world during Top 1 but most of the action takes place off the solar system

  Incoming newbie?

I finally convinced an old friend of mine to install the CoX games I got him for his birthday a while back, at least for the first two free months. He's slightly skeptical, but I think the peer group here is a lot more to his taste than the idiots we encounter on World of Warcraft. x.x;
His name's Jesse, he's a math geek and a science-fiction fan (but not, by and large, into anime), and RPG player -- he GM'd an eight-year-long Champions campaign back in the 80s/90s. Smart, sarcastic, cynical.
We'll be setting his account up and loading the games sometime Sunday. I hope you can help me convince him to stick around... [Image: smile.gif]
