  March 15
Posted by: robkelk - 03-16-2014, 12:54 AM - Forum: Fenspace - Replies (2)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_15]According to Wikipedia, March 15, 1937 is the day H.P. Lovecraft died, and March 15, 1967 is the day Naoko Takeuchi was born.

Considering this, just how does Fenspace mark the Ides of March?

  Dead Again! (A gamer's refrain)
Posted by: Jorlem - 03-14-2014, 04:32 PM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - No Replies

I'm thinking this would likely be a situational song, most useful in the games in Reboot (and other, similar environments, like in Tron), where it would enable infinite lives/respawns for Doug and all those he is working with.
I'm not sure what it would do outside of the games, if anything.  Anyone have any ideas?

Or what is there to drink in space that's good?

There's been some touching on it - I recall the GC crew making homebrew, Brubeks , Crystal Sapporo and somebody going around in the Whisky business (I can't recall who), but what exactly is there, out there?

Including various attempts at a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster and the few bottles of Rocket Fuel that got released into the wild.

Why do I suddenly want to create a page called "Alcoholic beverages of Fenspace'? It may have something to do with the Laphroaig...

  Quote of the day 3/12/14

"The universe doesn't really make anything in ones. The Earth is one of multiple planets. The Sun is just one of billions of other suns. Our galaxy is one of a hundred billion galaxies. Our universe? Perhaps one in a multiverse. And if you follow this line of reasoning perhaps the multiverse is one of many." ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson, during a Cosmos launch Q&A.

You have not experienced Hamlet until you have seen it in the original Klingon!

Okay - how weirdly cool is this? There's a special DOFF mission where you have to actually go down to the engineering deck in person to talk to the operations officer.
The mission? Put on a holoplay of Hamlet. You basically have to pick and choose from 19 of your DOFF officers and pick out officers who can put on a play well enough to be successful given the necessary traits. I thought it was wacky enough to give it a try.

I aced it on my first go-through. Critical Success. And this was my reward:

Yes - that's right - a holographic WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE is now part of my crew!

How freaking cool is that? ^_^

I'm going to try again and see what else I might get. Wonder if I can get an entire cast of Holo-players eventually? ^_^

New thread starts here.
It's a good point that the TVT roleplayers won't be bothering to update the relevant pages here, but yes, if someone wants to post analyses instead of archives, I'd certainly welcome them.  Maybe we should put a message-of-the-day to that effect on the front page?

  W7 network freakyness
Posted by: classicdrogn - 03-11-2014, 10:58 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (7)

So. I got around to attempting to actually use the oldish laptop my mother gave me over the holidays, beyond "Yup, it boots!" and it turns out there's something very peculiar going on with it - if any software besides IE or Norton tries to send data, the wireless connection drops, and it does so anyway every minute or two. This doesn't happen if it's booted in Safe Mode + Networking, but that doesn't tell me what's actually causing the problem...

Any ideas?
