  Some rapid transit
Posted by: robkelk - 07-13-2013, 02:20 AM - Forum: The Game Everyone Loves To Play - Replies (1)

There were still dozens of people trapped in the potential kill zone. Time to get them out - fast.

"System. Load song 'Highway to the Danger Zone.' Play song."

Yes, I'd be heading in to organize the evacuation ... but you can travel both ways on a highway. And anyone who couldn't leave on this highway could join me on Thunder Road when I bugged out.

Highway to the Danger Zone - effects are like those of Thunder Road, but going to a dangerous situation rather than away from it. And there's nothing stopping somebody who sees the highway from using it to go from the danger zone, as long as it's active. Highways are wider than most other roads, after all; there's plenty of room for two-way traffic.

(And, for bonus points, the song's effects has nothing to do with Top Gun...)

It's That Time Of Year Again...
Posted by: Bob Schroeck - 07-12-2013, 10:44 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

...the middle of July, when Peg and I pack up and join a whole bunch of family in beach houses on Long Beach Island.
Surf City, where the house we've rented every year for nearly the last decade is located, was very very well protected by dunes and a long, steep beach, so our place came through Hurricane Sandy pretty much untouched.  Which makes us very happy.
The last two years we've been able to make use of a nearby open wifi node and I'm assuming it's still going to be there, so my presence online will likely be pretty much unchanged.  In fact, I suspect that if I didn't post this message, no one would even notice that we were on vacation...
Maybe this year I'll post photos from my phone or something so you can see more of where we hang out than the WWI munitions warning signs.

So, yeah. I just got back from the early show. I'll make this short and simple:

You. Are. Going. To. See. This. Movie.

That is all.

Cancelled Champions Online sub for now
Posted by: Logan Darklighter - 07-12-2013, 05:16 AM - Forum: The Legendary - Replies (10)

I was already considering taking a break. But the latest "Patch" broke the game so hard it's not even funny.
Say goodbye to emotes.

No really. Seriously. I couldn't believe it either. THERE ARE NO MORE EMOTES IN THE GAME.

Yes - it's some kind of bug. But bugs don't get fixed in Champions except after months and months. And frankly they were ridiculously low on emotes in the first place.

It's just one of many things - the lockbox only content. The neglect.

I may be back - never say never of course. But I'm not going to be back until they fix what they broke and give us real new content that IS NOT IN A LOCKBOX.

Just friggin sad, really.

So! Anyone for DCUO?

She is Striving for Number One Spot to Win a Trip to Outer space, to further her goal of one day becoming the next Canadian Astronaut.

Please fallow this Link and Vote for Her, http://captaincassandrakirk.webs.com/ Even tho this might mean nothing to you, it means a lot to her, and having met her, I would love nothing more then to support her and help make her the next Canadian Astronaut.

Thanks everyone for your Support!!
If helping her get into to space because of her name is too frivolous a reason, consider how few female astronauts there are at the moment...

  The Next Bubble?
Posted by: ordnance11 - 07-10-2013, 03:29 AM - Forum: Politics and Other Fun - Replies (13)

I was volunteering for the VA Educational section when I was out of work in 2009-2010. One of the looming problems the counselors told me that veterans going to school were going to for profit schools when the schools were saying that jobs will be available for them when they graduate.  So, after accumulating maybe 20, 40, maybe even 60K of debt when they get out, are we looking at the next generation of U.S. college graduates who are going have to wait 10, 15 or even 20 years before they climb themselves out of the hole? And what about those that do not finish their degree?

Looking for a scripting-free web mail provider
Posted by: classicdrogn - 07-09-2013, 03:10 AM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (3)

With the switch from Yahoo Mail Classic now being mandatory, and yet again being stuck on PSPotato due to the third failure of a laptop in under a year, I can't even get in to their site at all - just the login page overflows available memory, for crying out loud! So, I need to find a new free web based email provider, with at least basic functionality when all scripting is turned off. Any suggestions?

  Copellion, The Anime
Posted by: Dartz - 07-08-2013, 11:07 PM - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

A few of you may have heard of Copellion. It's a manga set 15 years after an earthquake and tsunami damaged a nuclear power plant and caused a meltdown, irradiating the area around Tokyo and forcing it to be evacuated. It was slated for an animated adaptation in 2011. Which was shelved after an earthquake and tsunami damaged a nuclear power plant and triggered a meltdown.

Well. Some footage was recently shown at a French anime event. ( I think it was France.)

It looks beautiful in animation. The original manga had a definite Japanese Stalker feel to its visuals - with genetically engineered radiation-resistant schoolgirls making their way through the decayed abandoned ruins of old Tokyo to find survivors.

Did you make a wish and tie it to a bamboo stalk?

(And does anyone know what the weather was like in Japan? Did the lovers get to meet this year?)
