My cat is a jerk.
He doesn't come home last night, and its 19(F) degrees, so we are all worried. This one is a little goofy and we don't think he is canny enough to
manage for himself.
So we spend the night periodically going outside in the heavy snow, calling him, no cat. Its so cold out there my bear freezes, which is always fun.
Finally the next morning I go knocking door to door to see if the neighbors might have seen him.
(This is a dubious effort at best, because I have three black cats, so even if they had It would be random chance it was the right cat anyways)
So the second one says he heard something banging around in his garage last night, but didn't see anything when he went to look.
(shy black cat, dark garage, older neighbor without the best eyesight)
So he opens his garage door, we go in there, along with his granddaughter ( who I had not met before, and is surprisingly hot) is looking dubious.
I call his name;
*Meeeeeeeoooooooowww!!!*
From somewhere in the attic, crap.
So, 40 minutes later I've fetched my neighbors ladder and im crawling around up in there with a flash light he lent me. ( He smiled as he did it too, ha!)
I am calling his name, he keeps answering, I cant see him, and its like his meow is getting fainter.
I look around, wondering if hes in bad health or something, still no damned cat.
Finally get down, walk out of the garage look outside
...
He's meowing his head off as he runs full tilt back home, must have gotten down somehow once the door was open.

I just noticed Drak's new sig, and thought I'd provide all of you with some suplimental info...
The song he quotes actually is most often thought of as being from the Honorverse CD which Baen Publishing included in the hardcover edition of "War of
Honor", its one of three filk songs based on the Honorverse on that CD.
However, if you dont have the CD, your not totally SOL. there is a Baen fanatic who's archived all the promotional CD's to date at: Baen CD's @ The Fifth Imperium. you can get either zips of the whole CD's or just part...
which means that if you'd like to know more about Echo's Children, well...Echos Children songs from the Honorverse CD. not just the mp3's,
but bios of the two leading ladies of Echos Children and lyrics to them as well.
And if you like to know even still MORE about Echos Children, including checking out other samples or mabye just going straight to ordering a CD... well

Survivors is a remake of the 70s series created by Terry Nation. The producers of this remake say that they working from the novelization that Nation wrote
rather than the series itself, however, which was based upon I believe the first series of the original Survivors.
The story goes like this: a disease is ravaging the world which eventually kills off all but 1% of the world's population. The story follows the titular
survivors, chief among them Abby Grant, who is looking to find her son while at the same time make civilization again with the group of other survivors she
meets up with.
Other than Abby Grant, whose story remains mostly unchanged, nearly every other character is brand new or might as well have been. Perhaps the most changed is
Tom Price, who in the original was a misanthropic, greedy homeless welshman, while in this series is an escaped convict.
This new series is very convential, adhering to the three-act structure with a, b, and c plots; while the original series, if I remember correctly, had a very
70s BBC pace to it. As in, very idiosynchratic.
The acting and directing are very good. I especially enjoy the cinematography, particularly in comparison to the original, which is just first-rate. The
story is something that I very much enjoy, with the contrasting of the cozy catastrophe of the original with the more thriller aspect that is de regeur for the
modern post-apocalyptic genre.

* Patrol XP: Whee! It's not exactly free XP, nor is it quite the sweet, sweet taste of Double XP weekend, but it certainly makes it feel a lot better
when logging in to a long-unused alt.
* Day Jobs: You get credit for time already spent, it appears; Rhea is >< that much away from her first Caregiver badge (as it happens, I tend to log out
in the Cim hospital area a lot with her -- go fig)
* Leveling pact: Teh Awesome, especially since it doesn't appear to be limited to only 2 characters.
* No More Nag: Either they've updated their nag system so that it recognizes that I do, in fact, have the latest drivers that are possible for my hardware,
or more likely, they've removed the nag entirely. Not that it matters much, but I don't enjoy being told my drivers are out of date every time I log
in. So, yay!
* Still have not fixed chat coloring. Fail, NCSoft.
* If Ops and I are any indication... they've introduced SOMETHING that causes a crash. Dunno what, but both of us were crashing a lot more than usual last
night. Coulda been the server load, I suppose, but if that were the case I'd expect the same behavior on Double Xp weekends, which didn't seem to be
the case (mapservers, yes; crashes, no)
* Costume options. Whoa, baby. New Suit options, a new belt (which ROCKS, by the way), more. Fun times.
* Friends window bug. Might I suggest reading the GMOTD? For those who don't (ahem, grin), the trick is to bang the rocks -- I mean, the trick is to
-not- unpin your Friends window and then close it. Make sure it's pinned.

After setting up this forum and migrating the relevant threads, I forgot to actually post something in it. Duh.
Okay, here's where things stand.
Staring back in July of this year, Helen and I (and Peggy, who has helped in the plotting) watched the entire fifth season of Buffy from start to
finish, taking notes along the way. We have a spiral bound red notebook that we filled with stuff in the process. We assembled a timeline for the season,
worked out from internal clues what calendar date each episode took place, roughly (and may I say, we were quite rigorous and as a result our timeline
doesn't look very much like any of the ones you can find on the Web), and decided when in that timeline Doug shows up. And then we started mutating the
season's arc to account for Doug's presence. We now have a complete outline for the story, a general idea of where our chapter breaks are going to be,
and have started writing chapter 1. Helen just completed the prologue, and I'm working on Doug's first scene. The prereaders are likely to see those
two shortly, as a kind of teaser and to check that our collaboration works smoothly.
