You do have to remember what Misato's (I think) immediate reaction to hearing them brag about how awesome Jet Alone was... She looked baffled and disturbed
and pointed out they put a nuclear reactor in a robot designed for hand to hand combat. At some point it was pointed out it couldn't even get past the
Angel's AT field... it didn't even have a method to do so... they didn't even have a vague plan on how to do so.. As far as I can tell they
literally didn't bother to think of how this gianormous thing would attack... except it involved flailing arms.

Jet Alone isn't a Boxbot, so much as a Boxbot, designed by committee. A committee without many engineers... possibly heavy on the marketing department
staff. I literally have to wonder if anyone that sanctioned the ten or hundreds of billions that when into making Jet Alone got past reading the part about
'Giant robot' and will annoy the Gendo expletive.
