I suspect the author wrote himself into a corner - the way the Golem's situation had been built up, there was really no chance for a happy ending. Dumbles was going to have him killed off eventually, the Ministry wanted him in a lab, and his only support was a couple (albeit intelligent and determined) schoolkids. I also suspect that based on that, and BajaB's previous writings, he actually saw this as a happy ending - a blazer (or boom) of glory, as it were.

Both those ideas have merit, and would have made for a far better ending. I mean, if you wanted melancholy, you could have gone for Golem-Harry returned to a
mindless husk, and the girls mourning for him, and real-Harry grudgingly admitting his worth and accepting him as a brother, posthumously, and all that kind of stuff. What I don't understand is if Horcrux can actually be destroyed judicus application of explosives... if not that means that Golem Harry just exploded his
body and is going to end up really, really bored in a sensory deprivation tank. If it can that would mean the power that Voldie knows not is actually carpet bombing or C4. Also its one of the worst ending possible for the Boy who Lived.
I agree, it felt mostly to me like the author not really wanting to write anymore. There's any number of different ways that the story could have resolved
itself without resulting in a boom! The End. Felt kinda like a singular person version of Rocks Fall: Everyone Dies.
It's obvious from the author's notes the author ended it just because he/she is having personal emotional problems and/or disliked the story and was
doing a Take That at the fans. Which amounts to the same thing. ----------------- Epsilon

Well, that was a dumb and futile ending. ___________________________________ Not really Bob. The story is far better written than any of the stories by Kanzaka where Lina Inverse is with Naga. It has the main ingredients for being a good story: angst. Remember: All True Art is Angsty. BLECH!!!!!!
