Here's an interesting one. Gil Grisson investigates a murder in a casino, involving a tall, elegant blond man in a white mask, carrying a serpent-headed cane... and a young man with a lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead.

Nice. I may well read this to Peggy soon... even in its incomplete state.

There's a new chapter up. But it's mature readers only. And the registration setup appears to be broken currently....

Re: Sunset over Britain - Bob Schroeck - 11-15-2005

Worse yet, rating that one chapter mature locks the entire damned fic. For some reason I am finding that infuriating. I'm not sure why.

RE: Sunset over Britain - gubaba - 11-15-2005

Actually, it looks like almost the entire fic is labelled as mature. It's just that the age locking software just got installed/turned on.

Re: New Fic Recommendation Thread - classicdrogn - 11-16-2005

Anime-Ronin has several fun BtVS & crossover fics, the best of the ones I've read so far being "Revelations in White Light" - though it is very Xander Sue, tying in with Angel, Charmed (Leo the Whitelighter is X's real father), and the Greek gods ala Hercules/Xena.

Oh, yes! I read this one a long time ago, or so it seems. I wonder if it was before or after the most recent update... What I recall of it speaks very highly of it.
Later: Went back and reread the last few chapters. Nothing new to me here -- but I'm surprised that this is labelled a "finished" story. I always felt that the final chapter just sort of ended without any kind of resolution, and assumed there was more. Still, this is a damned fine story otherwise. Highly recommended.

HP/Slayers Crossover - drakensis - 11-19-2005

I was suddenly reminded of this when it updated last night. In an interesting twist, Snape (post-Voldemort's demise) is sent back in time into his teenaged body. And he's secretly a Slayers' style sorcerer. Only 3 chapters so far.

And damned good -- I read that in one sitting last night. In fact, the author added two installments while I was reading, which just made it better. Definitely bookmarked and filed in my "check frequently" folder.

Harry/Tonks - Wolff - 11-20-2005

I found this one yesterday, and it's quite good, though not complete yet. Harry Potter and the Summer of Change Harry returns to Privet Drive after 5th year and Tonks helps him become the man and hero he must be to survive. Some scenes Not Safe for Work."Ah, great. More androids." "We're not androids, we're the Knight Sabers!" "Huh. Frederick's of Hollywood has a line of power armor out. Who knew?"Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes

Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home

Jump out from behind them and shoot them in the head

Now everybody dancing the dance of the dead

A Jedi Shall Not Know Love
Even if you don't like Star Wars (which I have to admit I'm only somewhat a fan of), this is still worth a read, if for no other reason than the quality of its writing.
