RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - robkelk - 01-20-2021 Candice Marie Benbow's Five Flavor Pound Cake Contains almond extract RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - robkelk - 02-01-2021 Last week's radio recipe is a one-pot meal: pot roast. Contains wine. Since this is a slow-cooking meal, the recommendation is to use a less-tender (and less-expensive) cut of meat and let it tenderize itself in the pot. RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - Bob Schroeck - 02-02-2021 Huh. A lot more elaborate than my usual pot roast recipe, especially where liquid is concerned -- I normally start with only 3/4 cup of wine, not enough to submerge most of the meat. (I still get two or more cups of gravy out of it when I'm done, though.) I'll have to try adding a couple of things from it to my recipe, though, such as the garlic, rosemary and bay leaf. RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - robkelk - 02-28-2021 Last week's radio recipe is Mexican-style pepper and tomato salsa. Note that the above link says "Mexican-style", not "Mexican". Why? RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - robkelk - 04-21-2021 Something that should be in everybody's kitchen, if only because I want to see the business survive the pandemic... Partridgeberry sauce. Most of the rest of the world calls partridgeberry "ligonberry". This particular sauce is made from wild berries, which IMHO have more flavour than the farmed berries IKEA offers with their meatball dinners. It's good on other cuts of beef, too, not just hamburger. (Prices on that site are in Canadian dollars. At the moment, four US dollars will get you five Canadian dollars, exchange fees not included. Of course, there's taxes and shipping to worry about...) RE: "Like to cook" - the second helping - ECSNorway - 04-26-2021 I went ahead and made blood-orange marmalade. Lovely stuff.
