Looking for some Windows Vista/7 tweaking help here.
I'm having an issue with Windows Explorer as I browse my hard drive. It seems to be constantly defaulting to the "Music Files" or "Photo Folder" display mode, showing the columns appropriate to those formats no matter what is actually in the folder. Is there any way to control this selection without having to manually remove and re-add each column I want every time I open a folder?
It doesn't help that half of the items I want (like, say, FILE SIZE), are not even available on the default list, I have to go hunting for them...

It's damn annoying, I know. Right click on the folder in question (or any super-folder containing it), take properties and hit the 'Customize' tab. You'll want to "optimize this folder for:" (in dropdown box) "General Items". Also check 'apply to all subfolders'.

I don't know if there is a way to erradicate the "music" or "photo" display modes, but I don't think it should change once you set it.
