Is the U.S. starving for Canadian travellers?

(No embed because of how the video is hosted. Running time is 10:52.)

Takeaways:
  • Travel from Canada to the USA dropped when His Orangeness started bad-mouthing Canada in early 2025, has remained lower month-by-month in 2025 than in 2024, and is now lower than it was at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Travel to the USA from Canada and Mexico was greater than travel to the USA from all other countries combined in 2024. Travel to the USA from Canada was greater than travel to the USA from Mexico in 2024.
  • Tourism was a trillion-dollar industry in the USA in 2024.
  • Various "we want you back" ads from New York state and California don't appear to be working.

Americans are sufficiently clocked out that the general opinion of the tourist boards is that this is a politics or finance issue.

It is not.

It is a safety issue. On top of the politics issues and the finance issues.

Because not only have Canadian and Mexican citizens been turned away at the border, they have been arrested, detained in literally illegal conditions to be detained in as deemed by international treaties, and then been deported to places not their country of origin, if they haven't just flat out disappeared, never to be seen again.

And it's not just the Canadians and Mexicans, either.
