Today, instead of acknowledging (as requested) a warning on their talk page, Loopy's instead gotten pissy about the edit rejection, and has decided to alter the descriptions of those two tropes because in their mind we are denying what they think is an obvious truth. I think we've hit the point of diminishing returns with them. Would someone else please take point with them? I am inclined to be... undiplomatic, and that's probably the wrong tack to take right now.

I did the needful.

Alice says something that isn't right. Bob corrects her, but the correction isn't right, either.
Example:
"Everybody knows the Nobel Prizes are awarded by Denmark."
"No, actually they're awarded by Finland."
After two months, I'm starting a trope candidate for this: Incorrect Correction. Nowhere near ready for the Trope Workshop, let alone the wide world of tropes, but I don't mind other admins taking a look at it. (Especially since I only have two examples so far, and one of them's a fan work that I wrote. )

So, so close...
I almost cleaned up everything on All The Tropes:Frequent Redlinks... but Zack Ryder/Funny has an link to "GMs" that I don't know how to parse because I don't follow professional wrestling. If somebody who has a clue about pro wrestling could look at that page and disambiguate that link (and, if necessary, add a term to the disambiguation page for GM), I'd appreciate it.

GM is short for "General Manager", so "GM" is a contraction of that term.

Thanks, geth. One more term for the disambiguation page... and a clean sweep of fixing the common redlinks for another year.

There's something (else?) wonky with the Unused Redirects page. Ever since I got the list under the 5000 maximum, I've noticed that it isn't always showing all its results. Right now the list does a hard stop at 2500 entries, at "X Men Legends/YMMV → X-Men Legends/YMMV", but in past weeks when there was a larger number of redirects reported I have seen pages starting with "Y" and "Z" displayed -- and once or twice followed by unused redirects in the project namespace. Something is forcing a hard truncation on the results regardless of how far under the "maximum" their count is -- and I have watched that truncation point move as the number of redirects left in the list changes.

New user StarSword has a complaint/bug report; can one of our more technically-inclined folks look at what he's reporting? It has something to do with captchas and external links in new edits going to Moderation? It might just be because I'm drowsy and not yet caffeinated this morning, but I can't quite wrap my head around what he's describing.

He's likely referring to this:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmEdit
It's provided by default by Miraheze and has been bundled by MediaWiki as a basic extension since MW 1.18. This is used for preventing spam, and it sounds like it's getting a false positive. The Miraheze staff likely need to look at this one, given that they implemented the basic settings.

I've asked whether he's getting the error when he doesn't include an external link. Best to wait for an answer before opening a ticket.

Okay, I've been thinking that Asch of Apokolips has proved himself sufficiently to get a promote to autopatrolled/automoderated. He's never submitted a copyright violation, he takes instruction well, and overall his edits over the past few weeks have been solid and on-target.
What do you guys think?

I think he needs to read the Style Guide again, but the content of his contributions is good.

Concur. Once he gets consistent with the style rules, I would support his promotion.

I've been trying to prune the Moderation backlog and could use some help.
To streamline matters, I'll address certain posters in said backlog:
Hyoroemon: This user has horrid grammar, has been very demanding, and, as seen in the rejected edits log, outright insulted my competence at one point. I politely told them to wait in line, but this has fallen on deaf ears.
Asch of Apokolips: Their edits are pretty good so far, no complaints. Only thing worth noting is their Fantastic Four page is missing some markup.
StarSword: Good edits, but some of the submissions are HUGE
Update: StarSword has generally either ported over their own worek wholesale from TV Tropes or has written original material, as far as I could discern.

Okay, as you've already noticed, I've knocked down the list from thirty-something to thirteen. Thanks for making the decision on that one 350K monster of a page -- I honestly had no idea where to start with it.

Ah, jeeze, I just noticed something we've all overlooked. A new user by the name of "TheCajunPhoenix" has been systematically miscorrecting the possessive form of nouns that end in "s", from s-apostrophe to s-apostrophe-s. <sigh> Something for me to track down and fix, along with giving him a warning.
EDIT: Okay, it wasn't as bad as I thought at first glance, maybe a half dozen such changes in all. And honestly, different references say different things (including one that has different rules for nouns that are plural vs singular nouns that just happen to end in "S"), so he's probably just following the way he was taught. However, a lot of our style descends from the AP Stylebook, and we've been handling this exactly as the AP lays it out. Anyway, I undid those half-dozen or so cases, and left him a friendly note about it.

Bob, if you're going to warn him, you'll have to warn me as well for doing the exact same thing.
This is a style issue, not a grammar issue.

In that case, perhaps I've made what amounts to a policy decision without consulting the rest of the mods.
If you guys think I'm in the wrong then I'll undo my changes to his edits and apologize to him.
