Can't view any pictures at all.
Can't view any pictures at all.

Imgur is not working in the UK because it doesn't want to be subject to UK laws.

Is this the standard method for displaying images for these forums or is it the choice of the poster?

Is there any way to change this?

Poster's choixe of what they put inside the [img][/img] tags unless they upload it to the board directly, and the space available for that is limited to what Bob has on his machine (I think it's his own hardware anyway, since the move to this site from crapatalk.) I'm trying to remember what hosting service the QQ folks have been using since imgur blocked them a year or two back, but it seems to have mostly slipped my mind. Something like imagechest? Honestly,. I just stopped posting images at the time unless they were, like, listing pistures on Amazon, or else used links instead of embedded/inline images.

It's purely the choice of the poster... and I believe only one poster here uses Imgur.

I've subtly hinted a few times that Norgarth should be using the original images instead of making copies and linking to the copies. Maybe it's time to flat-out say "link to the original, not a copy"... but that's up to Bob.

That begs the question. What image service isn't blocked in the UK these days?

Imgur is dead handy because it's free, reasonably flexible and reasonably functional. To the point where I've forgotten what else there is.

The solution may be to simply find a way to route around the damage.

I'm going to assume that Jinx999 doesn't have or want o use a VPN set to US, like I occasionally do.  That's worked for me so far.

My attempt to use a VPN . . . didn't work. I've got it up and running for the moment, though.

As Dartz said, I can't even think of any other free image hosting sites (except photobucket, and I stopped using that years ago when they decided to add big 'Hosted on Photobucket' watermarks to anything on their site)

As for me linking to the originals, most of the pic I copy are off other forums or facebook. Usually they are copies themselves.

From what I've seen, Poobucket doesn't even leave it at watermarks these days, instead throwing up a generic poster image of something too blurred out to distinguish with the "hosted on hptotbucket" banner and wanting you to link to their page instead of embedding, presumably so they get the ad view revenue. Understandable, they have to keep the bills paid somehow, but inconvenient for our purposes.

(that may just be what shows up with javaqscript disabled by default so their embed code doesn;'t work, much like hoe Xits and Redds just leave a blank space, but I'm not about to turn that garbage on for image dump memes and shitpost screenshots anyway.)
