Wpuld the Echos of (whatever) fics make more sense if I watched on of those cut scene collections for FF14? I usually like DoS fics well enough, but these seem to be skipping over things that are plot relevant from that side of the crossover.
ETA: After a LONG hiatus, [/b]No Competition[/b] has updated again! It's a Potterfic where the Voldeshard in his scar interacting with the blood wards oin Privet Drive turned young Harry into a living power plant of chaotic Dark magic, in turn making him comfy to be around for dark creatures such as vampires, werewolves, etc. who proceed to move into Little Whinging to bask in the aura of the new little Dark (not evil) Lord. The first chapter is honestly kinda bad, a supposed one shot set during Voldie's resurrection at the end of GoF and having the situation summarized to him by his flunkies, but you can skip that (and the fragments used as epigraphs for later chapters that expand on the incidents) if you like, and/or leave it for last as a lid on the canopic jar until such time as the mummy shall rise once more. latest chapter: click here to start at chapter two: click here www dot FFn version: click here

I didn't know anything about FFXIV when I started reading the series (and still don't know anything that I didn't learn via osmosis by reading the series), but understood everything well enough that it didn't interfere with enjoying the story. The FFXIV elements started small and grew over time, but I thought they were explained well. I definitely would suggest reading the works in order, since Part 1 starts in the DoS setting and introduces only a single FFXIV element, Part 2 is the 'meat' of the story that integrates both settings, Part 3 has a lot of time skips and a plot which relies heavily on the fallout from Part 2's events, and the first chapter of Part 4 takes place entirely in the FFXIV setting without even mentioning Shikako.
