Yeah, I agree. Dpressing as all hell indeed... But still interesting.
Makes me wonder what I could do if I put my mind to writing something depressing, though. Maybe I'll try it one day. Then you'll have the comfort of knowing you were party to the creation of another Hideaki Anno.

Hinata confronts Kyuubi, demands he brings Naruto back, Kyuubi calls her a fool, throws her aside, and is left with feelings he does not really understand.
Plus, with the point of time I've set this at, Naruto doesn't _have_ any romantic entanglements, if we go by canon. So, I doubt ill explained mushy feelings will be popping up to bother Kyuubi anytime in the immediate future.
'sides, this sort of setup gives the perfect excuse for using the - he's a demon, therefore he needs a large and varied harem - card.
