I think you are recalling one of Mr Sharpe's other series, a number of omakes where he explored alternate parents for Ranma.

When and if FF.net comes back from the great beyond, you can find most of them scattered throughout the last published "story" Metroanime put there -- which is really just a depository for a lot of unrelated and off-the-wall stuff. My favorites are "A Bunny Kind of Omake" (What if Bugs Bunny had raised Ranma?) and the very last entry, in which Shampoo attempts a unique and inclusive solution to the finance problem.
