While not writing per se, I've had a similar experience with an idea I've been working on. I've only got little bits written here and there (totalling less than a MS Word page in actual scenes and a few pages of outline and ideas), but I keep returning to it and mentally tweaking things every day. It's grown far bigger than any other story I've thought of yet and I'm pretty eager to actually sink my teeth into it instead of just idly thinking about it. I'm also very much enjoying the simple flow of ideas that are coming together; it's a pleasant feeling.
