Sasami isn't really going to hold that one over Garrick's head. After all, Yakage played the 'Fight Fairly' card. He'll be the one to get the cold shoulder for the next week. 
As you mentioned, there are places I would like to get with this fic and for that reason there's going to be more than a few time-skips as we jump to story arcs where Garrick is going to have a major role. (The one with that Garyu brat comes to mind.)
That said... I'm debating over how to cover the next transitional bit. Part of me feels that it would be better if I spent more time on it and fleshed out the details of Garrick's education under Yakage, perhaps by writing about a lesson or two. However, another part feels that this doesn't really serve to develop the plot much and can be easily glossed over - the only part that really matters is how this affects Minagi, and in turn her relationship with Garrick.
