In "Benefits of Old Laws", the newly resurrected Voldemort is ... much more sane than his canonical counterpart. And decides on a rather different strategy.

Among other things, he now knows about the soul fragment in Harry. Which means Harry has to be protected just as much as any other Horcrux does.
So Thomas Gaunt, Lord Slytherin, is going to ... adopt Harry Potter. And protect him. And be a good father to him. 

I just got to the end of chapter 39 of this -- which is the last chapter I have in my Kindle, and I see there is a new chapter on FF.net.  Let me second Norway's recommendation on this -- it's very good and it's going on my "check for updates" list.  (One of these days I'll have to break down and sign up at FF so I don't have to manually check all my favorite fics once a week...)

Every time I notice this story I get the giggles thinking of the utter "what the FRAK is going on? has everyone gone COMPLETELY BUGNUTS INSANE?" that has to be going through certain heads as they try to figure out just who is on which side.... Draco and Sirius, brothers in Cognitive Dissonance.
