Overanalysis is okay, Acyl. Sometimes it gives me an insight into something I didn't realize about my own work.
Oh yeah, Doug's perspective on stuff is going to be an interesting head-turner for the Buffyverse folks.
As for that ancient creaky teaser with its "assemble the troops" sequence, well, that was discarded long, long ago. Doug does "assemble the troops", just from local resources mostly, and in at least one case (or one and a half...) quite literally. Just don't expect to see Ranma, the Archangels, and whoever else it was I had in that lineup.
And as for the climax... well, yeah, battle royale with cheese. But think about this: how's Doug going to be feeling about thwarting someone who, when all the other stuff around it is stripped away, wants the very same thing he does -- to go home?
