Since I just mentioned it in "Funny or interesting webarticles"...
Halifax Donair.
Having had the real thing in Halifax (and in one restaurant in Ottawa where they know what they're doing), the recipe appears to be pretty close to the real thing. (Of course, actual Halifax Donair recipes are closely-guarded secrets.)
And, yes, lettuce in a donair is sacrilegious. Don't listen to the Albertans there. And so is cheese, for that matter. If you want cheese and donair meat together, just make a donair pizza (with donair sauce replacing the tomato sauce).
