Literally me at that D&D 30th (35th? After 3.5e, before PF and MMO Edition) Anniversary thing when they were handing out red dice and ogre barbarian figures, when the all-newbies group wanted to play longer than the original DM (a FLGS emplyee) had time scheduled for...

Cool story, bro

with the event adventure still having one room left unexplored. The DM mumbled the details oin my ear, I parked my butt in the big chair, double checked the casters' spells, and off we went. The rogue got a crit success on his diplomancing skill check, so I let the captive Ogre barbarian understand Common and be persueded to help the party explore further to get revenge on the guy who trapped him (basically, he was gonna rush ahead and set off traps and ambushes for the noobs' not-so-fresh characters) and declared that the door they'd passed over earlier was something he could smash open, then they went and explored an impromptu dungeon for a while. I halfassed and/or fiat-called every thing but trhe most basic combat mechanics and flat out told them that a different DM would probably be more strict about things, but they all had fun,

... so I guess I won at D&D?

Hm. That ended up being longer than iuntended, and I don't even have an image to add. Guess I'll spoiler it.
