I think I found the article in question on the wayback machine. The article is still live, and there really was a retraction, though annoyingly it’s not documented on the article itself. Given that the context, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was really about SEO or ensuring certain keywords don’t appear, though it’s impossible to tell without a retraction statement.
