Neph was lazing on the couch when there's was a pop as Katie telapoted in, flopped on the couch and screamed into the cyborgs lap. "Hard day?" Neph asked.
Katie rolled over and grabbed her own face. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to get my girls a job? As soon as anyone finds out they where a seer, they politely show them the door.... If they are lucky."
Neph looks down at her. "It's the mind reading isn't it?"
'Fucking mind reading, second nature to my girls, they do it as natural as breathing! But no one wants their minds poked at!"
"Well, unlike Praetoria, we have laws against unwanted mind reading, it's a massive violation of personal space... Some people want it placed on part with rape as a crime."
Katie sighed. "But it's all they know! All they where made for, Mother's personality surgery left them struggling to do anything else... I mean Vanguard have taken a few girls to ease dealing with Rikti, but it's not enough, my girls just can't leach off welfare for the rest of their lives."
Neph strokes her girlfriends hair. "Well maybe we can talk to Mum? She is always supporting new heroes, so maybe we can get some of them into the hero line of work?"
Katie curls up into a fetol position. "I just want to give them a good life, like me, they deserve so much... I feel I am failing them, that I promised them the world, but my hands turned up empty."
Neph kisses the top of her head. "We will think of something, there has got to be a position somewhere for a bunch of twenty something psychers."
