The whole thing maps to the song.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work well in text... I have to write a lot more description to set the scene, so events take longer to read than to act out.

Song map to events:
-Powerup starts: 0:14 (with the violin line)
-Scrolls explode: 0:27 (key change)
-Gut punch and takeoff: 0:38-0:41
-Joy of flight: 0:41 (main melody)
-Landing with RWBY: 1:08
-Kamehameha charging: 1:51-2:05 (cello line)
-Kamehameha travel, drag: 2:05-2:17ish
-Redouble: 2:18ish
-'splosion: 2:30ish
-Landing in Ozpin's office: 2:46 (last note).

The fic I tried to write had the protag being an insert/reincarnation (not actually an SI) showing up as a Saiyan child in the middle of a Schnee Dust Company mine, years before the events of the show.  His aura was awakened by the other faunus in the mine, because they were worried he wouldn't be able to survive otherwise; since he's not from Remnant, though, it unlocked some of his potential instead.  He then made a bet with the overseer; if he could double his quota, then he'd get double the food.  He did.

He then went on to do more and more work, using it as training, until he was doing the work of fifty other miners (and getting fed like thirty men, but that's Saiyans for you).  Eventually his ki grew to the point where it was attracting Grimm to the mine from miles around, to the point it became a problem. That eventually got around to Ozpin, who brought him to Beacon.

He's constantly keeping his ki suppressed and training with a gravity vest, so his performance in class sucks, even with permission to fake a semblance by powering up just a bit.  Between that and his tail, Cardin and his ilk would be a problem.
