SGC Interlude: Stars Collide (Steven Universe meets the Princesses of Power) Chapter Four: Perseverance.

“The Grayskull lineage has guided Eternia for countless years,” said D’vann. “For every He-Man that exists outside of our family, the stability we have spent so long working to create grows ever more fragile. If we do not put a stop to it soon, I fear our power over the planet will destabilize. The people will lose faith in our legacy, and the alliances I forged will fracture like rusty chains.”

The computer, represented only by a white, diamond-shaped emblem on one of the screens, pondered this claim. “The people of Eternia look up to He-Man,” she assured him. “So long as someone holds the Sword of Power, the planet will remain united, no matter who that is.”

But D’vann was not convinced. “In the short term, perhaps. But how long until the public begins to believe that the Grayskulls are not necessary? How long until they believe that just anyone can wield the Sword of Power?” He stood up, beginning to pace. “We need to find a way to regain the public’s loyalty, one that will ensure that the position of He-Man will not be taken by any…subversives.”

Understood, my king. What did you have in mind?

The Great Computer ran a few calculations. “Understood, my king. What did you have in mind?”

The king-who-wasn’t-king examined his body duplicates floating in their vats. “I am only one man. Although my power stretches across the world, my influence can only reach so many places at once. What I need is an army–one that is unquestioningly loyal, but who brings hope to the people of Eternia. And I have a theory of who the central controller for this army can be. White Diamond?”

“Yes, sire?”

D’vann brought up some files on the computer. “This is a project I commissioned some time ago. It is a collaboration between some of Eternia’s finest scientists and sorcerers, able to transform energy into physical matter–in other words, hard light. While it was originally intended for rapid construction projects, I feel that it would take little effort to alter the technologies to create an endless legion of peacekeeping robots, controlled by a central master. And that master, I believe, should be you.”
