Last night I spent a few hours working up a new scene for the Halloween Party, with Osaka, her parents, and several Doctors Who. Of course it wasn't all well put together so I didn't add it to the wiki. Anyway, I was writing a reply to a comment on AO3 this morning when the SSD utterly failed. At least I think it's the SSD, because I can only get my computer to boot (with an USB stick) when I physically remove the SSD. In any case, lost fic is lost.
And then I stepped in dog poop in the park.
With the prices of SSDs now, it turns out that Miraheze's budget wasn't enough, and we're probably going to need to eat up all of the 'breathing room' from the fundraiser just to fund our planned expansion. For my own case, I have an old Mac, which means that prices for drives having the Apple proprietary connector are about $10 cheaper. And adapters to M.2 standard drives are about $10. So basically the market is such that there's even arbitrage for old weird shaped drives to feed into AI data centers.
