We've drifted in and out of each other's "best friend" position a few times over the decades. I dated his sister in high school. He was at our wedding. Over the years he's found a place with every group of friends I've made, from high school to Princeton and beyond. He lives in the Philippines now, so we haven't been in touch as much recently.
