The song I'm speaking of is quite definitely called "The Man Song" -- the singer sounds like Tim Allen, and the whole thing is a collection of macho declarations immediately subverted by little extra comments: "Well, I'll stay out late whenever I want to (get in trouble), and I'll come home when I'm good and ready (to sleep on the couch)" is one set of lines.
It's possible someone referred to the video you have with the wrong title, and that's what I've heard about.
