It’s things like this that stop me awakening more A.I.s. Roberta still has moments (at least, that she tells me of) where her ‘pre’ awakening memories get to her. Given her template, that can be rather traumatic at times. I don’t doubt that Shinji’s going to have the same issues.

What has worked for me is to get her to acknowledge her memories as just that, memories. Because of how she came to be, they only have what effect she allows them to have. It helped somewhat that she wanted to put that behind her. If you can get Shinji to the same position, it might make things easier for him to choose what he wants to do going forward.

And Shinji, because I know Jet’ll show this to you eventually, I want to say that the horrors of the past have one fear, and that is you no longer being controlled by them.

Well, that and that you’ll come along to kick them between the legs.
