Sydney is a reference to their history. They tend to use events they were both involved in as identifying markers.

Colonel Sam Masters is a former Australian SAS officer that retired after the war and went freelance. He and Sword had a decent working relationship back in
the day, before he was set up into attacking a Longbow facility by Arachnos, so they could get their fangs into another 'Destined One.'
