The Ur-Magical Girl
The Ur-Magical Girl
#1
Musing about Sailor Moon this weekend, I realized that there is an American prototype for the transforming, short-shirted, magically-powered (pre-)teen girl hero, and she was first published sixty or more years ago: Mary Marvel, from Fawcett Comics (later DC when they bought the Fawcett line). With the Crisis on the Infinite Earths back in the 80s, Earth-S was incorporated into the single generic DC Earth, and the Marvels became part of the continuity, and as such were updated to the current time period. Which led me to wonder... how about a crossover fic sending Mary Batson/Marvel to Juuban? Five ranged weapons and one close-in brawler who's almost on Superman's level... might be fun.
More on this as it develops.
