I'm not sure about that; there appears to be a shift occurring in the demographics of the voting base in the US with fewer people associating themselves with the Republicans while the Democrats are seeing an increase in membership, especially among young people. Which is the part of the population where the Republicans are suffering the worst.

The Trump presidency, especially if Trump publicly melts down, would cast a long shadow that Republicans will find difficult to get rid off.
