Insurrection, by contrast, felt like watching a normal TNG episode, if with an unusually high budget for makeup FX and someone's nephew left to run wild designing over-wrought bony things out of an Aliens movie for the alien-ship-of-the-week. Kind of too bad that Picard's relationship with the Ba'ku woman apparently fell through sometime in between then and now, but then they couldn't really get a thirty-mumble version of him to appear for filming ST: Picard if it somehow had worked out, and a TV series doesn't have the time let alone the budget for an effects crew to go de-aging its title character every time he's on camera.
Even so, that's still higher praise than I can give most other movies I've seen any time recently. Alita topped it, but I can't think of anything else off hand. Black Panther if it hadn't fallen apart in the final action sequence, maybe? Most of that was pretty amazing until then.
