Yes, well, it's not like that's any sort of surprise. They gave themselves a fig leaf to justify it, and now, at minimum, they can make diplomatic hay out of the US/Britain/etc. refusing to cooperate with Chinese law enforcement and extradite terrorists. At worst, Comrade Trump maintains the grip of his regime and, freed of the worry about needing to stand for reelection, drops his anti-China agenda in favor of shoveling as much money as he can grub into his pockets, using "international cooperation and the rule of law" to butter Xi Jinping and company up to restore mutually profitable trade arrangements.

Because ridiculous, mustache twirling, saturday-morning-cartoon evil is by all appearances his stock in trade, so at this point there's literally no moral or ethical low I would believe him incapable of sinking to, and very little I can hope his patsies won't allow or enthusiastically cheer on.
