Personally, I would refuse.
Yes, we're trying to write happy shiny space opera, but we're also writing a war. And in a war (and all too often out of it), terrible things happen, on both sides.
Add to that we're dealing with a MPD case (IIRC) whose component personalities aren't all on the same morality wavelength, and I find it all too likely to happen somewhere in Fenspace during the war. At least we're getting a good story with a conflicted lead out of it.
