Oh, don't get me wrong. I happen to find the Slapstick Effect amusing myself. It does a good job of cutting down on exactly what can be done, weapons-wise,
with handwavium, unless you're sneaky about it. I have an interesting idea for a ring, with a solar-powered amber stone in it, that would let me do a
dazzle-effect done up like the Kamehameha attack in Dragonball, for instance. Non-lethal, just a nice blinding attack in case of trouble. I do worry some about
an arms race - we're getting a little of it, even with just hardtech, though at least the Effect helped keep a lid on the worst of it. Do we want to remove
the Effect entirely, keep it around...maybe let it slowly die down with it still showing up in the worst cases? We have a lot of options. Nobody said it had to
go away overnight, after all.
