I come from a different mindset than Acyl, but, he's right on this one. My Rad Blast character is a defender; more than that, she's an Empathy
defender. Her -primary- focus is heals and buffs. I've frankenslotted the hell out of her to make her a successful blastfender, but the simple truth is
that she'll never be as good as a corrupter can be. She can never match the potential damage output of a Corr, no matter how many juicy IOs I stuff in her
attacks.
Since that's the case, you want to capitalize on that advantage. As Acyl says, max out your damage.
I don't have much to add, really. The way I play my blastfender is ranged attack; this is because she _cannot_ support the "Active Defense"
(read: kill them before they kill you) mindset. She doesn't have the oomph.
A Corr does.
