Incendiary rhetoric, self-righteous scolding and glib/snarky replies on both our parts aside, I fear that, as is so often the case, there are no easy answers. I agree that torture does nothing but make people angry and causes spurious "proof."
However, look at the percentage of the soldiers/fighters on both sides willing to torture. I have confidence that the percentage is lower on the US side than the other. Of course, any reports of torture delivered by insurgents must be propaganda by those awful Americans to justify their continued presence and improve their public image.
