Running the whetstone across the blade smoothly in an almost reverential stroking manner, Angelita Valentina knelt in the puddles of light of cast out by the burning candles. The aromatics the candles gave off were almost enough to mask the underlining odor of unholy magics that permeated this entire world. The stench in recent times however was growing to almost unbearable levels, and a check on the calender confirmed her initial conclusion: Halloween was coming.
Halloween. All Hallow's Eve. The day of the dead. The time when foul magic is at it height and unholy abominations walk the streets trying to prey on Humanity. A time when barriers fall and the mark of Corruption is in the very sky itself and twisted daemons like the Warp monstrosities from Home trying to punch through.
This called for special effort. Enough that she would have to call a halt to her investigations of Croatia for the moment and take some time out to prepare.
The edge of her axe that she was working on caught the light, a sparkle rippling down the edge. Somewhere, elsewhere, she felt her Patron's approval. As per the Ritual of Purification, when that happens, a murmur of thanks and she flipped the axe over to start work on the other side. Two edges down, two to go.
Back home she might have had Tech-priest tend to her armor, lower-cast Sisters would care for her weapon if she dared part with it. Ever since she had arrived here in this world, she had been forced to do everything herself. Including source the proper oils and candles from a pure enough, untainted, supplier. However, by doing so, by doing everything herself, Angelita was more careful and the various rituals and fastings had much deeper, richer, meaning then before. Even the Ritual of Purification for her axe, the Ono of Michelle, held a special meaning. She was more connected to it now. This truly was her weapon now, despite how unwieldy it was. And unlike her chainsword from home, it had never jammed, kicked back, recoiled, and so far was never dull. As one of the more specialized Sister's back home had said: Treat your weapon well and it'll treat you well. How true that was - it had not failed her since she had arrived.
She would have to wear her ultimate, purest armor, the one she was original keeping for when she reach the pinnacle of her abilities here. She would have to be like a beacon of Purity burning her Patron's light amid the sea of filth and darkness. And like moths to a candle the Abominations and Heretics have only one recourse when they see the Cleansing Light of Absolution - they seek it out.
Let them come! They will find Angelita Valentina waiting. And I shall strike them down and SMITE them with all of His Fury and Judgment!
She cleared her mind and continued her actions once more, slowly tending to her axe, unaware of her aura starting to fill the room with a glow.
