On the other hand, with the number of oddball worlds being discovered by the planet finder programs nowadays, there's always room fro outliers.

Considering the nature of the planets we've discovered in the last decade, a case can be made that Earth is one of those outliers.

My take: Don't worry about the planet generation rules.
