Monty Oum's new project

#26
I was watching both of those, and felt they looked like MGLN characters. Even without the obvious tie-in look, it would be pretty easy to import all of them. Smile
In fact, the more I think about it, in the Chrono game, I've had the PC's meet up with what looks like a copy of the Tome of the Night Sky and a copy Wolkenritter. They managed to infect a blank tome with a copy of the virus, developed an antivirus, and counter-infected the copy, effectively cleaning what Hayate calls "The Darkness of the Book of Darkness" out of the Tome and the Wolkenritter forever. Now the PC's are about to climb on the white horse and save them from their Master, who's trying to build an ancient superweapon for unknown, but presumably galaxy-threatening purpose, and in the process bind the copy and the copy-Wolkenritter to Admiral Shi-Ryo. (As an NPC, I can keep an eye on potential abuse of that much power, but it keeps them handy in the future if they're needed.)
It might be interesting to have them "reformat" as those four, after they're freed from their current Master...
Edit: Actually, the more I think about it, I think Hinoto would look a lot like Snow White. The only differences are her hair would be ankle-length, and bound into a single long ponytail by purple ribbon ties, and she would have double-iris eyes like in Shamanic Princess, but they would be a light purple in color.

Did anyone get Red's kill count? I counted 52. 26 in the first section of the action. I'm basing the other 26 based on a count I did on the forefield when she reloaded.

Is that a weapon hilt, or a scroll?

Hard to be sure just from a tiny silhouette, but given the two girls we've seen so far? I'd bet weapon.

You;re probably right... although, for a mage, a scroll is a weapon.

All I could think of through the whole thing is "That Moon reminds me of Thundarr the Barbarian". Now that I think about it. the whole trailer had kind of that same feeling to it.

Well, Monty's gone on record as noting that the fairy tale leanings are "mild inspiration at best". Looking at Blake, her hair ribbon and the ribbon attached to her weapon drift in a way to resemble cat ears and a tail, so it's possible that she's Beauty *and* the Beast.

Still, this is interesting for actually giving us a glance at her as a character rather than a tech demonstration. We know that she and Adam have distinctly different opinions on collateral damage ("What about the crew of the train?" "What about them?") and that this difference of opinion left her to abandon him at the end of the video. Additionally, the crawl at the beginning suggests an interesting bit with "Your hopes have become my burden. I will find my own liberation." which could refer to Blake being someone who wants to find a "liberation" that doesn't sacrifice innocents like Adam seems keen to.

On the weirdass weapon side, we have Adam's shotgun-sheathe iajutsu specialization, which is entertaining. Blake, meanwhile, is fairly versatile, given I saw her weapon shift between a single blade, blade and hilt as second blade, twin blades in tonfa hold, kama/flail with pistol recoil, gunblade, and just plain old pistol (when she unloads a clip into the spider tanks face). Also, we see after images here and there, so Blake may be an outright teleporter compared to the previous two, who were merely "fucking fast".

Still, apparently the series premiere is in June, so plenty of time for the Yellow trailer before then. Looking forward to it.

Is it my imagination, or are they hijacking something from Weiss Schnee's train? (snowflake emblem)

That's... hm. Datum:  I just happened to catch something subtle in the White trailer:  the moon, when it appears through the skylight near the end of the concert, is actually not a full circle -- it looks nibbled away on one edge.  I nearly dismissed it as an effect of the edge of the skylight, but after I traced out the full circle of the opening, I'm certain:  the moon in White is damaged, but not nearly as badly as it appears to be in Black.
And, re-checking Red, the moon is quite explicitly fully circular and apparently undamaged.  Significant?  (initial hypothesis:  R, W, B, and Y are not in the same era, but sequential -- the moon may be a signpost for what era we're seeing)

In the same vein, although more likely to be coincidental, I have to wonder if the way the entire forest in Black seems to be made of red rose petals has anything to do with the way Red's kills seemed to bleed rose petals rather than actual blood (something I dismissed as artistic license at the time).

So... let's see what we can figure out about the setting of the film now. First off, the speculation about the trailers taking place in different time periods, based on the intact-vs-shattered moon images, is clearly wrong, because in that last bit we see two moons, one shattered -- which also means this isn't Earth. Plus Ruby, who we assumed was the "oldest" because of the lack of moonshatter in her trailer, appearing at the end of this one, of course -- and being Yang's sister.

I'm sure someone else has noticed, but all the girls' weapons are firearms of some sort (or Nanoha-style cartridge-powered), or seem to incorporate them in some way. But all the girls are also "super" above and beyond their weapons.

What other inferences can be drawn?

That they are either affiliated with, or employed by, some larger organization.

Possibly something rebelling against another group, to judge from Blake's trailer.

Adam, at least, appears to have been involved in some sort of atrocity. Possibly his part of the organization?

Who is the girl Yang is looking for? Is she part of the larger plot of the movie, or solely for the trailer?

My impression is along the lines of 'The girls know each other and are personally friends. Weiss's family own ShinRa, and she thinks she's on the outs with the others, possibly connected to the fact that Blake is a member of a discriminated-against minority, and also of a resistance group trying to improve their situation, which is why she's cut contact with the others. Adam is from a (much) more militant cell of the same group. Yang thinks they're both being silly and is looking to punch some sense into the two of them and will bring Ruby along for the ride.'

Also, the Club Sisters from Yellow are the same ethnicity as Blake, interestingly. Which - their being bodyguards to a probable criminal - would fit with the social exile angle.
