Oh, it'll be very much in keeping with the series itself, but... I've dug up some info, possibly stuff Bepapas and Chiho Saito used as inspiration, and I'm going to be running with it. Some of the seeds for those plot elements are already laid in the scene above.

Good question. I'm not sure. I'm not planning for anything on the scale of the movie, but I'm going to certainly need it for proper flavor. In fact, my current plans open the entire story with a Shadowgirl scene of suitable opacity.Hm.
I guess the best answer at this very early stage is that if everything goes as I anticipate, there won't be bits that play with your head for the sole purpose of playing with your head, but some of the ideas will certainly set it spinning.

Nah, not enough stuff to bounce the balls off of for that. Dragonforce's _Valley of the Damned_ might do - it has an inauspicous name, but the lyrics are about slappin' down evil 'with the power of the almighty sword' ... let's see if I can find some lyrics....
Arrr. Odd, it soesn't seem to have the line I was thinking of, maybe that's in _Black Winter Night._ It's a good triumph-over-eeevil type song anyway, and does mention lots of shining swords and things. It could pinch in a do.
I have this on mp3 if someone wants one - it used to be on mp3.com and I suppose may someday be again.

From the album "Valley Of The Damned"

On a cold dark winter night
 Hidden by the stormy light
A battle rages for the right
 For what will become
In the valley of the damned
A warrior with sword in hand
 Travels fast across the land
 For freedom he rise
And the sign from the master on high
He screams a loud and across hear the cry
For the kingdom of fire and ice
And the power to be alive
Four strong ride on carry on through the war
Four strong carry on living for ever more
 On the wings of death
 By the hands of doom
 By the darkest light
 From the darkest moon
 Crossing silent seas
 Over mountains high
All will stand as one tonight
 On the black wind forever
 We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
 He stands high before us
 Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light
In the valley of the damned
 Days breaks with golden strand
 Over pastures green it glows
 To where night returns
 On the shadows faces appear
 Warriors wearing full metal gear
 Join together one and all
 Before the glorious light
Rise up gather around come and hear what is said
Use your senses open your mind don't you ever forget
 On the wings of life
 By the hands of hope
 By the brightest light
 From the brightest sun
 Crossing silent seas
 Over mountains high
To the valley of the damned
 On the black wind forever
 We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
 He stands high before us
 Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light
 On the black wind forever
 We ride on together
Destroying your evil with freedom my guide
When the master will call us
 He stands high before us
 Our hearts filled with splendour
Our swords will shine over the light

A quick Google on the lyric you provided turns up three pages with lyrics for the album "Valley of the Damned", and yes, the line is from the song "Black Winter Night".
Both of them look at first glance like good songs for kicking ass in the name of all that is right; I might want to go look for these...

I've been looking for all manner of "sword" songs, already, either for powers or as theme music. This is one I've missed... maybe I should just google on "sword lyrics"

Heh.. Being slightly bored I did just that. There are some wierd songs out there with sword in the title or in the lyrics.

Power Symphony - The Way of the Sword
For she who steps on the way of the sword
The path gets harder at every turn
 Sanctuary shell find no more
Among the people of her lot
She will leave the past behind
The Goddess knows what she is to find
 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
Theyll get lost along the way
 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
I am she whos on the way of the sword
For she who knows notthe way she must walk
Life is sweet but with little reward
 She who wields a sword
Must be prepared to shed her blood
 Pain she must endure
And know too well that she must be strong

 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
Theyll get lost along the way
 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
I am she whos on the way of the sword
 So many farewells
Many tears you must shed before your journey ends
 Or its only just begun
For a glory wish there is much to sacrifice
 So many farewells
Many tears you must shed before your journey ends
 Or its only just begun
For a glory wish there is much to sacrifice
 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
Theyll get lost along the way
 Past is left behind
For the one on the way of the sword
 Fools are meant to fall
I am she whos on the way of the sword

 Blessed be.

Only a lot... Went to Power Symphony's website and downloaded the MP3 of this song. Weird sound, kinda like Manowar plays Clannad with Anne Wilson singing lead. Not sure I like it. Gonna have to listen to it some more.

Did you notice they have a music video of it up, too? It's on a page of its own, linked from the little flashing "Free video!" square-ad-looking-thing on the bottom left of the music page. - CD, who made Far Too Much soup
Edit: My mistake, it's from the main page, not the music page

Oh, yeah, CD, I got the video, too. Moody lighting and gothy girl lead singer, interspersed with bad SCA live-steel choreography. It did nothing for me except keep the song firmly in "do I really like this?" territory...
