Looking for a fic...
02-22-2009, 02:36 AM
I think it has been recced on here before like ... a couple years back. It was a System Shock fic featuring a hacker who took out the ethics constraints on
SHODAN on a space station and asked for some hacking tool in his hand in response. Then it ends up everyone has been killed while he's been in surgery and
he has to find a way to take out SHODAN before she completely takes over the world.
Anyone know what it was called or have a link? Thanks for any help.

glad to help. That fic has made me want to play system shock 1 and 2 (I'm hoping that they will be picked up by Good Old Games)

True - but that might only be obvious to folks who have played the game or are otherwise familiar with it.
Free Radical's notable for being a straight novelization of the game, though, and I'd assume a great many readers of the piece haven't played the game.
If that's the case, then a description like that would almost certainly bring a mention of Young's work.
It's also the only System Shock fanfic I know, m'self - but then, I never played the games... =D
QED! =DÂ

out there, and it turns out that the watcher in question is actually a slayer? it used to be on livejournal, but i don't think i've seen any updates to
it in a dog's age...

If architects built buildings the way programmers write programs, the first woodpecker to come along would destroy civilization.
