There are three new chapters of Kinsfire's Betrayed, starting http://kinsfire.fanficauthors.net/Betra ... s_Learned/]here. Unfortunately, I think it's turning into a Harry Sue kind of story if only for the girls that fall into his lap, and how quickly they do so, in the course of these chapters.

Dumbledore has an unrealistic level of influence, and I find it makes things interesting. It's almost like if Partially Kissed Hero hadn't run totally off the rails. Given that it's a Kinsfire fic, what can you expect?
Just off the top of my head, I honestly can't think of a single fic he's done in which Harry hasn't gotten multiple women, and generally there's a lot of gratuitous focus on sex into the bargain.

Actually, I'm wondering if Kinsfire isn't actually trying to write a deconstruction of the Harry Sue subgenre. It's impossible to say yet; we'll need to see more chapters to be sure -- but at the moment, setting up a Harry Sue, only to have Evil!Dumbledore and Evil!Minion!Snape be equal to the task of countering him, is rather unusual. If they can keep it up, I'll call this a deconstruction for sure; if Harry (or the girls) starts sweeping the opposition away with ease, though...

That Fragmented Ideas installment is a lot of fun; I'd love to see that expanded and carried through the rest of the series.
Oh, and for those who are impatient for its conclusion, which should be in a day or so, you can get all the remaining installments of Kinsfire's Betrayed in the files section of a Yahoo Group called "3 or 4 Part Harmony", where he apparently was betaing it. Naturally, I read them last night -- there are only two chapters left at the time I write this -- but I will hold off on my thoughts and/or opinions until everyone else has a chance to. -- Bob --------- Then the horns kicked in... ...and my shoes began to squeak.
