Ein's a corgi IIRC, that's... difficult to cast.

I predict the role of Ein will be played by a digital model, because getting an actual dog to do some of the things Ein does would be rather difficult, and real animals have sharply limited amounts of time they can be on set, and even well trained ones are apt to do the wrong thing on camera fairly often. When you're already planning the kind of effects budget needed for spaceships and interplanetary travel, a digital dog is peanuts. I mean, they'll probably have a real corgi for a few scenes where Ed is hugging him or one of the other actors directly interacts, but otherwise...

.... I think there's still going to be backlash over this. People are gonna want their Corgi, dagnabsit. Ein is what made them popular as a breed outside of being Her Majesty's Favorite.

I'm tired of watching Netflix defile things I enjoy, which is why I just don't watch their stuff, it's bad enough to hear someone want to rape my memories, I have no desire to watch it play out in front of my eyes.
